During his final year of college, Jim Baker worked for the Indiana State
Board of Accounts as a field auditor for government agencies. In 1969 he
began working for a regional accounting firm in Lafayette, Indiana. Jim
then decided to open his own accounting practice in Monticello at the end of
1974. In the outset, it was just Jim and one part-time employee.
Three different buildings have housed the practice over the office's
twenty-six years. Staff size has fluctuated as well, with as many as
thirteen full-time employees, including four CPAs. Currently the staff
is comprised of three full-time employees, with the addition of part-time help
during tax season. During the past several years, the practice has
provided services to clients in practically all areas possible. Today,
the office specializes in highly personalized services to meet all clients'
personal finance and business needs.
